A few years ago I started a deep dive into switching our home over to nontoxic living, but I was frustrated at how expensive healthier/nontoxic products were. I felt that we were slowly being poisoned through so many areas of our life.
I've been learning that using traditional cleaners (like Lysol, Bleach, Scrubbing Bubbles, Mr Clean, etc) was equivalent to lung damage from smoking an entire pack of cigarettes in a day! I've also learned that laundry detergent is just overpriced toxic water filled with endocrine disruptors.
I KNEW it was time to switch. But we couldn't afford it . Then my friend showed me how much the stuff I was using cost about the same as products from this shop club she found. And I was like, can this be true ? AND they pay you for referring shoppers. I'm all about earning here and there (who else uses Rakuten, Fetch, Ibotta, etc?). That actually sold me, because not only will I pay about the same (or less) than what I currently spend, but I could potentially earn it back, making it free (or with profit).
We've been shopping at The Wellness Company and slowly making the switch in every area of our house. We get our home essentials, personal care, over-the-counter meds, snacks, supplements, nontoxic MAKE-UP, and even a healthier & delicious coffee & replacement for my creamer. And the best part is that it gets delivered to my front door!
And so I realized that I was part of the "DITCH & SWITCH" movement - the practice of ditching all of your toxic household products for non-toxic household products. And I want YOU to be a part of this healthier lifestyle too! Here are the steps:

And so I realized that I was part of the "DITCH & SWITCH" movement - the practice of ditching all of your toxic household products for non-toxic household products. And I want YOU to be a part of this healthier lifestyle too! Here are the steps:
STEP 1: READ LABELS
The first step is to read the labels for all of the products that you are using. But let's be real here. Who has time to do that, between raising your kids, figuring out what to make for dinner, and doing all the things we already do, right? So the simple and quick method is to scan the bottle and see if it says CAUTION, WARNING, or DANGER. You may also see "hazardous waste" or "eye, skin, or lung irritant" on the labels of toxic products.
step 2: research
It is important to do your own research and not just believe me. It is no longer good enough for the product to say "non-toxic" or "green" on the label. Those are designed to attract you but they may not necessarily have safe ingredients.
The top 3 toxic ingredients to research in household products are the following:
1. Synthetic Fragrances
2. Chemical Preservatives
3. Surfactants

step 3: ditch those toxic products safely and legally
Did you know that you can't just throw out all cleaning products in the trash? Believe it or not, that is how toxic they are! Some of these products are classified s hazardous waste by the EPA. For safe disposal of toxic products, go to the website earth911.com and put in your zip code to see what the proper way of disposal are in your area.
step 4: switch to safe products!
There are different ways that you can do this. One way is to make your own cleaning products using safe ingredients. There are many articles and videos online with DIY instructions. But again, we are all so busy, right?
So the next option is to find a company that you can trust to do the research and make safe products for you to use. There are several out there, but most are so expensive. I am going to highly recommend The Wellness Company!

The Wellness Company guarantees NO chlorine bleach, ammonia, formaldehyde, phthalates, parabens, synthetic fragrances & more. Usually all of these toxins are hidden in our everyday cleaning products, makeup, laundry detergent, baby wipes, hand soap, vitamins, and more. I was shocked and disgusted when I learned this, honestly! They may not be toxic in their "small" doses but accumulate over time because they are in everything that we use day after day.
I started ditching and switching an area of my house each month. First I started with all the products that touch our skin, like body wash, shampoo, deodorants, dental care, etc. The next month I switched the household cleaners. And so every month I switched a different area until it was time to start again and refill.
The cost is about equal, if not less sometimes, than the products that I use to buy from the big box stores. I save myself the extra trip into the stores without sacrificing the cost to get the quality.
